That Which Will Be Remembered – October 467 AV

They knocked on the attic door before they left but she stayed silent and still. Better for them to believe she had slipped away in the night than to see her like this.

Guide watched from the dirty window as the Resistance moved on from the hunter’s lodge that had been their home, and hers, for much of the summit. In the ridges and peaks behind them she could clearly make out the crystal edged plateau that had been her safe haven, and the site of her betrayal, catch the light of the dawn. One she almost did not see.

The acorn was safe and the only true loss was a guardian no one wanted anyway from what little she’d overheard. It could have been so much worse…

She threw back her hood and squinted at her unfamiliar reflection in the glass, now too weak to maintain even her simple human glamour. She smiled at the long forgotten face that looked back at her. The moment passed and she fell to her knees as pain wracked her body.

Her name cursed and her story taken by Enigma, she was struggling to maintain her form. Her hand grew translucent and she closed her eyes focusing on the four words that rang out as she had her very essence torn from her body

“Guide you are remembered”

The pain subsided and her hand became whole.
She needed to start a new story and leave the mountains before they tried to come for her again. The Legion would be leaving soon, maybe she could hitch a lift?

She left the attic, this time through the door.
