Prienei (April 466AV)

Prienei had always been a quiet village. Out of the way of most travellers. The Cinneans living here led a quiet life, farming barley. This week was different. An army from the Wastes appeared nearby. It arrived suddenly and quietly, building an encampment only a few miles from the little village. For two days it just sat there. The villagers will tell anyone who asks, they have absolutely no idea why the army stopped. Indeed, they told the party of Resistance fighters who came through exactly that. The Resistance headed South towards the army and everything was quiet again for a while. Whatever those Resistance fighters did worked. For barely a day after they had passed through, the army marched. The villagers gazed in amazement as rank after rank of troops from the Wastes passed through their village, churning up the road and large sections of crop. Hundreds of heavily armoured warriors baring scimitars and shields or pikes were followed by robed figures with the distinct aura of magic about them. All of this watched over by a young determined warrior the villagers learnt to be called Dust in Wind. It took several hours for them to pass and then all was quiet again. The villagers of Prienei had just begun to assess the damage to their crop when the ground rumbled once again. Hundreds more troops followed through. More Wasters, this time clad in leather armour and moving swifter were jogging through. Some carried sword and buckler while many carried the little recurved bows popular in the Wastes. Yakdae of the Red Dunes led them. She stopped long enough to apologise for the damage caused to the crops and to ask about boats on the Mother Omma before taking her forces to meet up with those ahead.
With a great sigh at the work to be done, the villagers headed out once more to tend to their damaged fields. For the third time in a row they were stopped. With the distinct reddish orange tabard and bad attitude, a large group of Escari turned up.
“Tell us dirt pusher, where is that rabble of slaves headed…”
